Work a full example. Take 1000 g of oils, colloidal oats, standard level. The rate is 10 g per 500 g, so per gram of oils that is 0.02 g. Amount is 1000 × 0.02 × 1.0, which is 20 g. Per pound that is 20 × (454 ÷ 1000), about 9.1 g. Percent of oils is 20 ÷ 1000 × 100, which is 2 percent, right in the oats’ usual band.
The heavy factor is capped at each additive’s safe maximum. Charcoal at 1.6 times could exceed its 1 percent ceiling on some batches, so the tool holds it at the maximum rather than letting the multiplier run past a safe dose.

Those charcoal specks are not a rustic look, they are undispersed powder. A minute spent mixing the powder into oil first would have prevented every one.
Pre-disperse powders in a little oil or water before they go into the batch.

A rate learned on a 500 gram batch is half-strength in a 1000 gram one if you add the same spoonful. The additive’s effect then quietly disappears in bigger batches.
